MISS KAZ

Vocals, Acoustic & Keys

Born into this world singing and dancing. Well, shouting by all accounts! Kaz’s mantra is “Peace love and fun in music”.
BIO A young Kaz first tasted the industry at 12 years old, performing on Opportunity Knocks – the X Factor of its day. Music took a back seat during school… motherhood… marriage, yet Kaz was always the after party entertainment, singing and quoting Koko Taylor.

QUOTE “I spent many years in the dark, writing in journals – only to find out later that I had actually been compiling lyrics, poems and stories.” The past now firmly where it belongs, I choose not to return to a place that hurts – those “secret lyrics” I now turned into positive energy, given freely to those who get me”.

FUN FACT: While performing as Calamity Jane in a school play (just picture it: wee Kaz… suede, fringed jacket… leather boots… singing all about the windy city…) mid song, she threw the jacket off and adapted her own version of the song, to a standing ovation! Result: expulsion from music class!
2015 was the biggest year for Kaz and an acknowledgement from the blues fraternity that she had chosen the right path in pursuing her music.

EXTRA STUFF: 2015 Hat Trick of awards including the first ever “Norn Iron” ( Northern Irish) winner of a British Blues Award; Blues Matters Magazine writers’ poll for best studio album; (Get Ready) and Pure M Awards best female act in Ireland. Kaz has also been nominated twice for the prestigious NI Music Prize. She is also Arts Ambassador for EastSide Arts in Belfast and has lectured at Boston University in conjunction with Professor Meg Tyler. Not content is our Kaz as she has begun 2016 by creating a group called Blues Sisterhood UK, in the hope of bringing more equality within the genre. Kaz has also just agreed to becoming an Honorary Member & Ambassador for Blues for The UK Blues Federation too.
