French Documentary

As part of the Eclats d'Emails Jazz Festival in Limoges, France 3 Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the production company Oxymore decided to shoot a 52-minute film on the musical world of this great artist, based on her presence at the opening of the 18th Eclats d'Email Jazz Edition Festival at the Limoges Opera House.

The film is written around Kaz 's piano/vocal compositions . The CD Don’t You Know is THE common thread. Basically, this common thread is nothing other than her life. Nine songs are taken from this album to which are added four other songs covered on the piano.

The idea of this documentary is to touch Kaz 's intimacy . Here, no audience, no concert amplification, just the voice and the notes of the piano. Words in the form of confidences to herself and deafening silences. Emotion and generosity. Kaz finally looks straight ahead, but when she performs some of her songs, then it is her damaged life that invades her and makes our hair stand on end.

Her album "My life and I" inspired the title of this documentary: Kaz Hawkins, my life & you, because from now on, it is music that serves as her therapy and it would make no sense for her not to share it.

In November 2024, Eclats d'Emails Jazz Festival gave an exclusive theatre premiere of the documentary and Kaz’s full concert for France.Tv. In an emotional speech, Kaz spoke in French saying “La musique m'a sauvé la vie, mais la France me donne la paix” (Music saved my life but France gives me peace)
